Wildcats win Game 1 in 10th inning

Super Regionals at Hi Corbett Field

The Arizona Wildcats captured Game 1 in the Super Regionals at Hi Corbett Field today with a dramatic 7-6 victory in 10 innings over St. John's. Trent Gilbert provided the big blow with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 10th, plating Bobby Brown, who earlier in the inning tied the game at  6-6 with a single to center  field. The big story was the pitching of Arizona's Kurt Heyer. Heyer pitched 9.1 innings, allowing 17 hits, but never gave up, until he was relieved by Mathew Troupe with one out in the 10th inning.  Heyer left the mound with the game tied at 5-all . He watched anxiously from the dugout as his teammates rallied for the win. The Wildcats do it all over again tomorrow as they face St. John's at noon, just one win away from the College World Series. Congrats, 'Cats!
