The road to Williamsport begins here...

The road to Williamsport begins here...in Tucson, at Mehl Park, beginning at 7:30 p.m. It's the dream of all 11 and 12-year-olds across the country who participate in Little League to begin their journey this week with hopes of making it to the Little League World Series. My grandson, Jadon Price, will get his chance starting tonight as his Thornydale All Star team takes on the Tanque Verde All Stars. Jadon will start in center field for Thornydale as his team will try their best to advance through the regionals, the state tournament in Phoenix and then on to San Bernadino, California with a chance to win it all and become one of eight teams in the country to make it to the Little League World Series. The competition will get tougher as they progress from one game to another. But there's always that chance for a Tucson team to make it all the way to Williamsport, Pennyslvania. One thing is for certain, every Little Leaguer will give it their all and won't give up until the scoreboard tells them so. It's one of those journeys in the life of a young ball player that never gets old. Hats off to all the Little Leaguers across the country.

Williamsport dates:
Aug. 16 to Aug. 26 – South Williamsport, Pa. (Lamade/Volunteer Stadiums) – 54th season in South Williamsport; 66th season overall

2011 Champion: Ocean View Little League (Huntington Beach, Calif.)
