Arizona wins the national baseball title
Congrats, Arizona Wildcats! The Wildcats won the 2012 National Championship at the College World Series in Omaha tonight. Arizona beats Michael Roth and the South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-1, thanks to a three-run rally in the top of the ninth inning. With the score deadlocked at 1-1, Arizona (48-17) gets a down-the-line double by Brandon Dixon to score the go-ahead run and Trent Gilbert follows with a two-run single to give the Wildcats a three-run cushion, heading into the bottom of the ninth. James Farris pitched 7 2/3 innings and reliever Mat Troupe (6-1) shut the Gamecocks down the rest of the way as the Wildcats go unbeaten at the College World Series with a perfect 5-0 record. Robert Refsnyder, who had two hits in the finale and went 10 for 21 in the series, won the MVP award. South Carolina (49-20) was in search of its third straight national championship. The Arizona Wildcats are the new CHAMPS!
