Tale of the tape

The Diamondbacks lose another one. The Reds win again.

Two teams heading in opposite directions.

Cincinnati beats Arizona 5-2 at Chase Field last night and will go for the sweep of the three-game series this afternoon. If the Reds win today (and it is awful hard to bet against them) they will pick up their 80th victory of the season and will leave town with the best record in baseball. On the other hand, the Diamondbacks continue to sink and are on the verge of securing the tag "wait till next year" as the loss last night drops them to 64-66 on the season. It's getting to the point Arizona will need to sweep upcoming, head-to-head games with San Francisco and the LA Dodgers to have a shot at the NL West title. Another loss or two and Arizona might as well bring on some more rookies to finish out the season. Yogi always said "it's never over till it's over" but we're getting closer to Don Meredith's famous line, "turn out the lights... the party's over." After today, it is on to LA for a four-game series with the Dodgers.

D'backs Update: The Cincinnati Reds close out the series with another win today as they come from behind to beat the Diamondbacks, 6-2. Come on Diamondbacks, let's turn it around in LA!
