Are the Nationals, Reds the best two teams in the MLB?

Are the Washington Nationals and the Cincinnati Reds the best two teams in the major leagues?

On paper, it certainly looks that way.

The Nationals have lost just 23 times away from home this season and have won 41! They do their best work away from Washington, similar to our politicians! Whoops, let's don't go there.

At home, the Nationals are a respectable 36-24, which all adds up to the best record in baseball at  77-47. The surprising Reds, on the other hand, sport a 76-49 record and are 19 games over the .500 mark at home and eight games above that mark with their away games. On paper, the two National League teams are outdistancing themselves from the top two teams in the American League -- the Texas Rangers (72-51) and the New York Yankees (72-52). As we head down the stretch, we'll see who prevails. But there certainly is some good baseball being played with six weeks left in the regular season.
