Diamondbacks split 4-game series with Miami

The Arizona Diamondbacks got all they could ask for from two rookie left-handers today.

Tyler Skaggs in his first start for the D'backs goes 6 2/3 innings at Chase Field in the first game of a doubleheader as Arizona shuts down the Miami Marlins, 3-2, and then another rookie, Wade Miley,  who seems more like a veteran hurler, wins his 14th game of the year as he tosses eight shut out innings as the Diamondbacks win the nightcap, 3-0.

After losing the first two games of the four-game series with the Marlins, the Diamondbacks come roaring back and remain three games over the .500 mark at  64-61. With 37 games remaining in the regular season, the Diamondbacks now set their sights on the visiting San Diego Padres as the 10-game home stand continues. Aaron Hill led the Diamondbacks offensively in the first game today, going 2 for 3 and driving in three runs -- including a home run, while Paul Goldschmidt led the way in the nightcap with an RBI-single, a double and a run scored.
