Team Priceless moves to 2-0 in fantasy football league

UPC Hood Fantasy Football League

Team Priceless

Two weeks are in the books in the UPC Hood Fantasy Football League and five of 12 teams are unbeaten at 2-0. Nut Rub, Team Arps, Mega Powers, Three Fight Right and my team, Team Priceless, are the five teams with unblemished records.

Team Priceless wins a nail-biter 114-108 behind a 25-point fantasy effort from Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson (193 receiving yards and one touchdown). I won despite the fact my quarterback, Drew Brees, had an off-night with just 16 fantasy points. Brees and the New Orleans Saints won 16-14 over Tampa Bay, but in the fantasy world the 322 yards and one passing touchdown turned in by Brees failed to calculate into big fantasy points. Now, if Brees had thrown one more pass for  28 yards, then he would have hit the 350-passing mark and according to our league rules my Team Priceless would have been awarded an additional 10 bonus points.

For the second week in a row my backup quarterback, Eli Manning, sat on the bench and once again he outscores Brees. Eli and the New York Giants lose in the real world to Denver and his brother, Peyton, on Sunday by a score of 41-23. In the fantasy world Eli brings home 26 points -- 10 more than Brees.

Each week turns into a real guessing game.

As we head into Week 3, the owner of Team Priceless, yours truly, will try to come up with the right formula in hopes of getting my team to 3-0. Team Priceless will take on Blitz (0-2), a formidable opponent whose owner will have to make a decision of his own. Blitz can go with Cincinnati's Andy Dalton at quarterback or go with Washington's signal-caller Robert Griffin III.

We'll have to wait and see how it all turns out. Sure would like to get to 3-0 -- that would be a first for me.
