Diamondbacks keep Dodgers from clinching NL West

The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to clinch the National League Western division. The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the ropes, but showed some pride last night as they made sure the Dodgers didn't celebrate and uncork the Champagne bottles at Chase Field.

The Diamondbacks would just as soon see the Dodgers celebrate somewhere other than Chase Field and last night, behind Paul Goldschmidt's 34th homer of the season, Arizona upends the NL West leaders, 9-4.

Arizona improves to 77-74 and the Dodgers fall to 87-65. The Diamondbacks are 9 1/2 games back of the Dodgers. The two teams will tangle again at noon today as Arizona sends Wade Miley (10-10) to the mound in search of his 11th win of the season.
