Goldschmidt hits 33rd homer, Diamondbacks win!

Paul Goldschmidt came up with one of the two hits by the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at Chase Field. Fortunately for the D'backs, Goldschmidt hit cleared the centerfield fence in the bottom of the first inning for a two-run homer, his 33rd of the season, and the good guys slip by the LA Dodgers, 2-1

The Dodgers started Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-7) and the Dodger lefty pitched all eight innings for LA. Ryu walked one and struck out four and made one bad pitch to Goldy. Aaron Hill recorded the other hit for Arizona.

As for the D'backs, they went with Trevor Cahill (7-10), who goes 5 1/3 and allows just two hits and one run. Josh Collmenter, David Hernandez and Brad Ziegler finish the job. Ziegler earns his 11th save  of the season.

Arizona improves to 76-73 and the Dodgers fall to 86-64, but maintains a 9 1/2 game cushion in the NL West over the Diamondbacks.
