70-and-over Arizona Scorpions draw Australia Aussies in MSBL World Series opener

The 70-and-over Arizona Scorpions, with a roster consisting of eight players from the Tucson Old Timers (TOTS), will play the Aussies from Australia in a first round game at the MSBL/MALB World Series on Monday, Oct. 14.

The game will be played at Maryvale Park, the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers. Game time is set for 9:30 AM.

A partial schedule was released earlier this week by the senior world series committee and the Scorpions will play Dodgertown West on Tuesday, Oct. 15, the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, Oct. 16,  and Team America on Thursday, Oct. 17. The matchup and final round-robin game for Friday, Oct. 18, as yet to be announced.

The Scorpions' game with Dodgertown will be held at Tempe Diablo Stadium, spring training home of the Los Angeles Angels. Game time is set for 9:00 AM. The Scorpions will take on the Padres at the Goodyear Complex, spring training home of the Cleveland Indians, and will tangle with Team America at one of the annex fields at the Salt River Complex, home of both the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Both games on Wednesday and Thursday have a scheduled start for 10:00 AM.

If the Scorpions qualify for weekend play and win their playoff games on Saturday, Oct. 19, they would play in the title game, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20, at 9:30 AM. The championship game will be held at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
