It's hard stayin' away...

Staying off this right foot and off the playing field is tough on this old coot.

I'm trying to follow the doctor's orders. The doc says give it a rest or else he'll go in there and scrape away that fractured bone spur. If he does that, then I will have to say goodbye to the MSBL World Series, which gets underway for our 65-and-over team in six weeks. While I'm on the disabled list, I might as well see a hand doctor and see what's wrong with the old bones in my hands. So, on Monday morning, I'll have some x-rays, at least on my glove hand, and see what's causing the pain in my wrist and thumb joint. I've pretty much ignored the pulsating pain in my left thumb for a couple of years, assuming it is just arthritis settling in. It couldn't be some of those hard shots I've taking at third base over the years, could it? It is still tough not playing and I'm afraid if I show up at the ball field this week, or next week, I'd probably lace up my baseball shoes, pull the glove over my 66-year-old arthritic hand and PLAY!
