Seeing your name on the scoreboard at the MSBL World Series

One of the perks that go along with playing in the Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL) World Series this month is seeing your name on the Tempe Diablo Stadium center field scoreboard when you step to the plate -- much like the professionals see when they enter the box at major league stadiums throughout the country.

The stadium announcer even calls out your name. "Now batting for the Arizona Scorpions, third-baseman Dan Price." What a kick! The only difference is in the Majors there's 40,000 fans in the stands. When you step to the plate in an MSBL World Series game, you might have 100 fans looking on -- mostly the players' wives. And chances are, they are looking at their watch, waiting for the game to end so they can go shopping in Scottsdale. Hats off to the fans who sit through a three-hour old timers' World Series game.
