A GIANT victory for San Francisco!

It was a  GIANT victory in front of the home crowd in San Francisco tonight. A blanking of the St. Louis Cardinals 9-0 as Matt Cain throws 102 pitches, allows five hits and pitches into the sixth inning as he leads the San Francisco Giants into the 2012 World Series and a date with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

The Giants score one run in the first inning, another run in the second and then add five runs in the third -- the big blow coming from a two-run double by Hunter Pence, to take a commanding lead. San Francisco added an insurance run in the seventh inning and then capped the evening off with a solo shot in the eighth inning by Brandon Belt. Marco Scutaro went 3 for 4 as the Giants banged out 14 hits and end up winning three straight to wrap up the NLCS title.
