Arizona Scorpions 20 Dodgertown West 9

MSBL World Series Update

70-and-over division

Doc Thompson allowed four hits in six innings of work and banged out three hits -- including two doubles, as the Arizona Scorpions won their opener at the MSBL World Series 20-9 today over Dodgertown West.

Playing inside the confines of the spacious Tempe Diablo Stadium, the Scorpions roughed up the Dodgertown pitchers in the early innings and led 10-0 when Thompson was pulled and gave way to relievers Larry Grey and Tom Barrow. The seven players from the Tucson area Jerry Hamelin, Danny Price, Chico Bigham, Arnie White, Dan Kershaw, Barrow and Thompson collected 13 hits as the Arizona Scorpions now head into Game 2 on Tuesday against the Ohio Classics.

Bigham, a right-hander, gets the start tomorrow against the Classics.
