Wildcats win opener over Valparaiso, 73-64

In the Stands Report by Bookemdano: The Arizona Wildcats led by two at the half, but defended well in the second half and went on to win their season opener tonight with a 73-64 win over Valparaiso at McKale Center. Kyle Fogg led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Jesse Perry and freshman Nick Johnson added 14 points apiece as Arizona, the 16h ranked team in the nation, gets it done.

Perry also grabbed 10 boards for a double-double. Freshman Angelo Chol had a good outing as well with four steals, six rebounds and six points before fouling out late in the game, while Jordin Mayes and Solomon Hill added to the Wildcats scoring with eight points apiece. All in all, not too shabby for the opener. Disappointing was the play of Kyryl Natyazhko, who played just 15 minutes and did not score. We need more from the big fella.
