Jumpin' Nick Johnson scores 19 in Las Cruces

Nick Johnson got his first start of the season for the Arizona Wildcats tonight in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Johnson, the son of Joey Johnson, a former Arizona State standout and the brother of the late Dennis Johnson, the former Phoenix Suns great shooting guard, scored 19 points to lead Arizona to an 83-76 win over New Mexico State at the Pan American Center.

It was a tough night for the Wildcats as they fell behind early 9-2, but battled back in front of a hostile crowd and led at the half, 44-40. Jesse Perry had another double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. The Wildcats shot 52 per cent from the field, hitting 30 of 58 shots. The Wildcats (5-2) also received double-figure scoring from Solomon Hill and Josiah Turner. Both players chipped in 12 points.

Way to go, CATS!
