Wildcats hit 14 three-pointers in win over St. John's

The Arizona Wildcats canned 14 of 29 three-pointers and five players scored in double figures tonight at Madison Square Garden and went on to beat St. John's, 81-72. Solomon Hill led the way with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and a block. Kyle Fogg pumped in 13, Jordin Mayes netted 12, while Jesse Perry and Nick Johnson contributed 11 points apiece to complete the double-figure scoring.

Josiah Turner came close to double figures, adding eight points to the Wildcats' cause, while pulling down three boards and coming up with two steals. Balanced scoring, indeed! The 15th-ranked Wildcats led at the half 44-41, but relinquished the lead early in the second half and then came roaring back to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Wildcats will take on Mississippi State tomorrow night in the championship game of the 2K Sports Classic. The Bulldogs upset Texas A and M, 69-60, in the first game of the tourney earlier today.
