A triple-header for Grandpa...

It was a triple-header of sorts on this particular Saturday for this old man. Grandpa witnessed two football games and a soccer match as my grandson, Jadon, and his Mountain Lions' teammates played back-to-back football games, and my granddaughter, Hannah, played in her final regular season soccer game. The NW Mountain Lions beat the Marana Tigers, 27-6, in a Southern Arizona Youth Football League semi-final this morning at the Amphi Middle School and then battled, a few hours later in the championship game, losing a hard-fought 6-0 game to the Tucson Tigers.

Jadon scored a touchdown and recovered two on-side kickoffs in the morning game and rushed for 80 yards -- including a 37 yard run, in the Lions' loss to the Tigers in the afternoon game. Sandwiched in between was Hannah's soccer game at Felix Park. Hannah's team, the Sausage Deli Super Subs, won its first game of the season 2-0 as they shutout the Yellow Peppers. Hannah scored one of the two goals for the Super Subs, giving her a team-leading nine goals for the season.

Way to go, Jadon and Hannah!
