TOTS luncheon a huge success

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Brian Reilly won the TOT of the year award for 2015 at the annual luncheon, held today at Vivace's Restaurant in north Tucson, while Dave Rhoades, Jeff Helzel and Ron Petersen were announced as this year's Hall of Fame winners. The TOTS Hall of Fame award is awarded to members of the organization who have reached the magic number of 80 -- years of age combined with their "playing years" with the club.

Dennis Crowley took home the Joe Tappero Sportsmanship Award.

This year's guest speaker was Brad Tolson, a former player with the TOTS, who played baseball for the University of Arizona, back in the early 1950s. Brad played with the TOTS from 1991 to 2012 and wore the number 3 proudly for 21 years, before handing over his jersey to his son, Tim, 62, who is currently the youngest member on the club.

Photo 5 and the best laugh of the day comes from 83-year-old Jerry Smarik, who showed up with an autographed baseball from Brad of which Jerry has held onto for 21 years. It was Brad's first home run as a TOT, way back in 1991.
