Diamondbacks rock Rockies

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost the opener of the three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field and then came roaring back with a 12-5 win on Tuesday and a 9-1 victory tonight.

Arizona, behind the hitting of Mark Trumbo and Paul Goldschmidt, blew by the Rockies in the second game of the series. Trumbo went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs, while Goldy went 3 for 5 with three RBI. The Diamondbacks rattled 15 hits around Chase Field.

Tonight it was more of the same, only this time it was rookie Yasmany Tomas supplying the punch with two hits and three RBI, while catcher Jordan Pacheco singled and drilled a three-run homer. Goldy continued his hard hitting with three more hits -- his third consecutive game with three hits. The Diamondbacks had 13 hits on the night and Josh Collmenter (2-3) pitched eight strong innings to pick up his second win of the season.

Arizona improves to 10-11. The Diamondbacks open a three-game series on Friday in LA with the Dodgers.
