Gritty, old-time catchers are hard to find

Finding a 60-and-over catcher to strap on the gear and lower the body into a squatting position for two hours, maybe three hours in some cases, takes some doing.

Luckily,  the Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) baseball club has a history of finding such an animal who is willing to get behind the plate and handle the many chores required for the job -- everything from catching off-target fastballs to slow-and-in-the-dirt curve balls. For every pitch from the mound, there has to be a return throw...and for those pop ups behind the plate, well then, that's an adventure.
