There was a time...

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

The Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) play baseball three days a week at Udall Park. You have to be at least 60 years of age to play in our league.

But in the beginning... there was a time when all the members of the Tucson Old Timers were young, bright-eyed and ready to venture to the baseball diamond to play America's pastime for the first time.

Nothing has changed. Let me take that back, we have white hair or in some cases no hair, our muscles ache and our reaction time is slim and none.

But much is still the same. The smell of a leather glove, the crack of the bat when contact is made, the aroma of the freshly cut outfield grass, the popping sound of a fastball as it finds the catcher's mitt...and one of the most important sounds of all: "Let's play ball."

The TOTS all have one thing in common: There's still a little kid inside of them, just waiting to take the field.

  3. Mike, the statue is in Tubac at a sculptures for sale business. I believe it's next to one of the top Mexican food places in Tubac. A very cool statue!
