Rattlers rattle Aces
Southwest Senior Baseball League
60-and-over Aces
The Aces scored five runs, banged out 12 hits and received a complete-game performance from right-hander Arnie White, but had an off day defensively and lost to the Arizona Ratters 9-5 today at Udall Park in a 60-and-over Southwest Baseball League game.
The Rattlers scored two unearned runs in the top of the first inning when second baseman Pigpen Price booted a double play ball, but the Aces battled back and led 3-2 after two innings of play.
In the middle innings, more fielding errors by the Aces, and by the time the seventh inning rolled around the game was deadlocked at 5-5.
With two-out in the top of the seventh inning, Aces' left fielder Pete Peters misjudged a fly ball and the Rattlers rallied for four runs. The Aces went quietly in the bottom of the seventh and the Rattlers walked away with the win.
"We made too many errors today and had a few mental errors to go along with it," said Aces manager Jerry Hamelin.
White pitched well and helped himself at the plate with a 3 for 3 day.
Sometimes... things just don't work out.
