Hill's 2-run double in 12th lifts D'backs to win over Giants
Arizona Diamondbacks
Aaron Hill hit a two-run double in the top of the 12th inning at AT&T Park in San Francisco tonight as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Giants 7-6 in the first game of a four-game series.
Hill's game-winning hit off Sergio Romo ended a frustrating night for manager Chip Hale and the Diamondbacks. Arizona held a 4-0 lead early and starter Archie Bradley went 6 2/3 innings, giving up just four hits and two runs, but the Diamondbacks bullpen couldn't get the job done down the stretch and the game went into extra innings.
By the time the dust had cleared, Hale had used his entire bullpen and the last man standing turned out to be Randall Delgado, who hurls the final two innings to pick up the win -- giving up one run in the bottom of the 12th inning and the tying run was left stranded at second base.
Mark Trumbo homered in the second inning, Paul Goldschmidt hit a three-run shot in the fifth and A.J. Pollock hit a solo shot in the 10th.
Arizona improves to 5-5 and the Giants fall to 3-8.
