The TOTS give it their all
Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)
60-and-over baseball
The 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers give it their all on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Udall Park.
Sometimes the ball takes crazy bounces and sometimes the players, ranging in age from 60 to 89, have their moments tracking down the baseball. See below:
Photos by Conrad Royksund...(Top photo) Jerry Hamelin fouls off a pitch from Ron Petersen as the catcher, Lloyd Barzell, looks on. (Photo 2) This one gets away from first baseman Floyd Lance, while Danny Lundwall reaches the base safely. (Photo 3 and 4) Second baseman Bobby Stofft has his troubles holding on to a hard hit grounder while the concerned runner, Pete Peters, looks on. (Photo 5) Danny Lundwall tracks down an elusive pop up. (Photo 6) A meeting at third with shortstop Lloyd Barzell and third baseman Chico Bigham. The runner, Dennis Crowley, is safe and the pitcher Bob Daliege looks on in amazement. (Photo 7) Finally an out as third baseman Joe Opocensky tags the bag for a force out, just ahead of the runner, Dave Rhoades. (Photo 8, bottom) And, of course, if all else fails, there's always Ted's way. Ted Davis is on the injured list, but finds a way to stay semi active (with a water bottle at his side, just in case he needs to quench his thirst).
