Quarterback watch

As I said in a recent post, I have two teammates on my 38-and-over Tucson MSBL Blackbirds team who have sons starting as high school quarterbacks this year.

It was a tough night for Mountain View quarterback Cody Rochon, son of Rick Rochon, who had his hands full leading the Lions against the Salpointe Lancers last night. The Lancers prevailed 40-10 as Rochon and the Lions lost their first game of the season, but Rochon played hard, going 6 for 16 passing and 53 yards. He also kicked a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter, engineered a TD-drive in the fourth quarter, and kicked the point-after.

Tom Bolen, son of T-Bone Bolen, led Amphitheater to its first win of the season as the Panthers scored in every quarter last night and knocked off the visiting Hawks from Rio Rico, 31-6. Bolen connected on 15 of 30 passes for 173 yards, while rushing for 25 yards on five carries.  Wednesday it'll be my grandson's turn. Jadon Price will quarterback the Wilson Junior High Wranglers as they travel to Tortolita.

Both teams are 3-0 on the season. Good luck, Jadon, and thumbs up to Cody and Tom for their efforts last night.
