Prep quarterback watch

Two of my Tucson MSBL teammates, Rick Rochon and Tom Bolen, were in the stands cheering on their sons as prep football under the "Friday Night" lights continued last night in the Old Pueblo.

Rick's son, Cody, engineered an upset win as Mountain View beat Cienega, 21-19. Cody scored the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter as the Lions held on to beat the Bobcats. Rochon completed four passes for 51 yards and the Lions improved to 4-1 on the season. Thomas Bolen scored the only touchdown on a 15-yard pass play in the fourth quarter as the Amphitheater Panthers lost to Gilbert Williams Field, 56-6. Bolen went 7 for 14 for 55 yards as Amphi falls to 1-4. As for my grandson, Jadon, who engineered his Wilson Junior High Wranglers to their fourth win last week over Tortolita, he'll get his shot at leading his team to their fifth win and keep their unbeaten streak alive against Marana JHS on Wednesday.

Good job, guys!
