Diamondbacks on the verge of being swept by Giants

The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the verge of being swept by the San Francisco Giants. The D'backs have lost the first two games of the three-game series at Chase Field, 6-2 and 3-2. Patrick Corbin will take the mound for the D'backs this afternoon in Game 3 in hopes of ending another losing streak. As for the Giants, they just continue to reign at the top of the NL West, 21 games over .500 at  83-62. And the D'backs, well another loss or two and the streaking San Diego Padres, 8-2 in their last 10 games, will  replace the Diamondbacks for third-place in the division. Today is the Diamondbacks' 72nd game at Chase Field. They need a win to get back to .500 at home this season. Not what the Arizona powers-to-be had envisioned back in early April. The D'backs, at 71-74, have just 17 games remaining to their season.

D'backs Update: The Arizona Diamondbacks (72-74) salvage the third game of the series with San Francisco this afternoon as Corbin goes eight innings in the 10-2 win. Corbin helped his own cause with a three-run triple and an RBI-single.
