Mets punch ticket to World Series
MLB Playoffs
The New York Mets beat the Cubs 8-3 in Chicago tonight to win the NLCS and will head for the World Series. The Mets sweep the Cubs in four straight games as Lucas Duda goes 3 for 4 in Game 4, including two doubles and a home run, while finishing with five RBI.
By the way, Daniel Murphy homered again tonight. Murphy added to the Mets onslaught with four hits in five trips to the plate and becomes the first player to hit six consecutive postseason home runs.
Over in Toronto, the Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 to extend the ALCS to a sixth game. Marco Estrada takes a one-hitter into the eighth inning today as the Blue Jays close the gap with the Royals, three games to two.
And now it's on to Kansas City for Game 6 on Friday.
