Australia Aussies rout Texans


Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL) World Series

70-and-over American division


We (the San Antonio Texans) lost to the 70-and-over Aussies from Australia 21-11 today at the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series. It was the fifth game in five days for both teams, The Aussies went 5-0 in pool play, while the Texans finished 0-5 and failed to qualify for the playoffs scheduled for Friday at Fitch Park in Mesa.


Two players from the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers played in all five games for the Texans. Ron Petersen, 70, went 6 for 16 for the week, while Pigpen Price, also 70, finished with six hits in 18 at bats.

Price and Petersen will take Friday off before joining the Tucson Aces for the 65-and-over division tournament, which begins on Saturday. The Aces play their opener at 12:30 against the Ohio Classics at Fitch Park.
