Dennis "The Menace" Crowley led the Tucson Old Timers in hits during the month of September. Crowley, 65, went 19 for 30 for a .633 batting average, but the top average for the month went to Doc Thompson, 73, who collected 17 hits in 25 trips to the plate for a blistering .680 average.
Other top hitters for the month included Lloyd Barzell, who batted .533 (16 for 30) and Ted Davis with a .552 average (16 for 29).
Tim Tolson played in just seven games, but led the team with 11 RBI, while Joe Opocensky and Davis tied for second in runs-batted-in with 10.
