Nats win the World Series

2019 MLB World Series

Game 7

"I wanna go home" is the four famous words in a song that hit the charts in 1963. Country singer Bobby Bare's Detroit City was the record, but the song writers were not thinking about the future --  some 56 years later, on the night before Halloween at the seventh game of the 2019 World Series in Houston, Texas.

The Washington Nationals win four games, all on the road -- including tonight's 6-2 win over the Astros in Houston. The Nationals, nor the Houston Astros won a game at home during the series.

The Nationals certainly didn't want to go home during the drama-packed World Series. But they do now and they'll head back to Washington, D.C. to a city of fans ready to cheer their arrival as the Nats  bring home their first national title.

They finally get to go home as winners. Us old-timers remember the struggles of the Washington Senators back in the day. But struggle no more as Max Scherzer answers the call and pitches five gutsy innings, Patrick Corbin pitches three innings in relief and gets the win, while Howie Kendrick and Anthony Rendon homered to put the clamps on Houston on their home field.

Congrats to the Washington Nationals!
