Tucson Toros fall to Mudville 9 at MSBL WS

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

65-and-over Cactus Division

Tucson Toros

Game 3

Mike Dawson, from the Tucson Old Timers, started and pitched four strong innings, but the "error bug" raised its ugly head in the fifth inning and the Tucson Toros (1-2) dropped their second game of the MSBL World Series 11-8 to the Mudville 9 at Red Mountain Park this morning.

Tim Tolson and Doc Escala, both from the TOTS, collected two hits apiece in a losing cause. The other "Tucson Boys" didn't receive any at bats today. Joe Opocensky played a solid third base and has made only one error in three games. John Mathews was called back to Tucson for his work and will miss the remainder of the series.

"We had a chance in the ninth inning with two runners on," Dawson said. "But we couldn't get it done."

The Toros take on Dodgertown in Maryvale on Tuesday morning.  Game time: 9:45. Maryvale is the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Dawson said. "We need to win the next two games to make the playoffs."

The Toros will play their fifth round-robin game on Wednesday against Raynham at 10:00 a.m. at Fitch Park in Mesa.
