Boxberger goes 3 for 4 in MSBL finale

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

65-and-over Desert division

Seattle Mariners

Game 5

The 65-and-over Seattle Mariners took it on the chin this week -- including a 14-5 loss to Australia today at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Seattle's catcher Danny Boxberger, a member of the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers, went 3 for 4 today.

Unfortunately, the Mariners finished 0-5 at the MSBL World Series and are heading home. Boxberger played against the Tucson-5 in the first week off the MSBL World Series in the 70-and-over division. The Tucson-5 consists of Bob Daliege, Bill Mishler, Lloyd Barzell, Pete Peters and Pigpen Price -- all teammates of Boxberger's on the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers.

The Seattle Mariners and Boxberger were able to win one game last week, but not this week as they lost to Albuquerque, the MLW Braves, the Cal Vets, the Snowbirds and today to the Aussies.

As for Boxberger, well he went to the bar and had a cold one after each game to get ready for the next one (see above photo). The three hits today helped a bit, too.
