Price, White lead Scorpions in MSBL opener

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

73-and-over division

Arizona Scorpions

Game 1

Danny "Pigpen" Price and Arnie "Montana Kid" White combined for eight hits and seven RBI to lead  the Arizona Scorpions to a 18-16 win today in the first round of the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series.

Playing at the Salt River Complex (spring training home of the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks), Price batted lead-off and went 4 for 7, including two doubles, scored three times and knocked in four runs, while White contributed four singles, walked twice and knocked in three runs.

"This is more like it," said Price. "Last week in the 70-and-over division I struggled at the plate. It feels good to get the bat on the ball."

White batted fifth,  reached baseball six times and played the entire game in left field. It was White's first action at the World Series and he made the most of it. Price played third and had six assists and three putouts. White made a shoestring catch in left field.

Price and White, who play for the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers, will get a shot at a team from Canada tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Fitch Park in Mesa.

"We play the Reed Deer Legends," Price added. "We need to continue to hit. We are a little undermanned with just nine guys. The at bats come fast. I'm already a tired puppy and we have four round-robin games to go."

The Scorpions play the San Antonio Broncos on Wednesday at Red Mountain in east Mesa.
