Canada crushes Scorpions

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

73-and-over division

Arizona Scorpions

Game 2

The Legends (1-1) from Red Deer, Canada crushed the Arizona Scorpions 16-3 today at Fitch Park in Mesa in second round action of the 73-and-over Men's Senior Baseball League World Series.

Arnie White and Pigpen Price, both from the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers, couldn't help the Scorpions today. The Scorpions lost their sting. Playing with only nine players and one veteran  pitcher, it makes it kind of hard to remain competitive at the MSBL World Series.

White went 1 for and 3 and Price went 1 for 3, after combining for eight hits and six RBI the day before in their 18-16 win over  the Aqua Sox.

The Scorpions kept it close at the outset and were down 4-2 after three innings of play today. After that Red Deer stomped on the Scorpions.

Tomorrow is another day, but things are not going to get any easier for the Scorpions, who play one of the "top dogs" in the division, the San Antonio Broncos, on Wednesday at Red Mountain Park in Mesa. The Broncos already own a 31-1 win over the team from Canada in the first round.

Still, the Scorpions have a shot at the playoffs, but they need to win two of their final three round-robin games to be in the running for the weekend and a shot at the championship ring.

The Scorpions (1-1) complete their round-robin games at Goodyear on Thursday against the tough San Diego Padres (1-1) and on Friday against Cambria, a team that currently sits atop the standings with a 2-0 record.
