TOTS game ends on line-shot to third

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Team White held on for an 8-5 win over Team Blue in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game today at Udall Park.

Team Blue tried their best to rally in the final inning. With the bases loaded and trailing 8-5, Team Blue sent up one of their truly pull hitters -- the hard-hitting Slamin' Bob Stofft. He's been known to pull the ball down the third baseline over and over and over again. You can count on a hot shot just about every time and if you're the third baseman, you'd better be ready.

Today, Stofft did it again. This time it was a line shot to the left of third baseman Tommy Potter, but this time the ball sailed into Potter's mitt for the final out.

Lefty Dennis Crowley picked up the win and Pigpen Price was saddled with the loss.

Way to hit the ball, Bob! And, nice catch Tommy!

The Tucson Old Timers will be back in action on Friday with a 9:30 a.m start.
