60-and-over Aces travel to Santa Rita today

Chances are, Mike Morales, the catcher and manager of the Tucson Old Pueblo Club, will have a few things up his sleeve this morning as the Aces travel to Santa Rita for a 60-and-over clash with the OP Club, which lost 12-2 last month to the Aces at Udall Park. Morales, a crafty veteran and a teammate of mine in recent years at the Phoenix-based MSBL World Series, will more than likely do his best to get in a "payback". Back-to-back losses to the Aces would not sit well with Morales, one of the top hitters on the club, who by the way played back in the late 1960s and 1970s with the old Jack Ellis Sporting Goods team, which consistently contained a roster of some of the best baseball players in town. "That was a long time ago," said Morales.

As for today's game, Morales adds, "We owe you one." Game time is set for 9 a.m., or there abouts, when all us old timers get our arms warmed up. As for me, I'd like to get a couple of dingers off the pitchers on the Old Pueblo Club. I need to get my average up a bit.
