TOTS' player to get his first shot at MSBL World Series

One of the "young studs" on the Tucson Old Timers, 61-year-old John Mathews, will get his first shot at playing in the MSBL World Series next month in Phoenix.

Mathews, in his second year with the TOTS, will play for an Albuquerque, New Mexico team called the Paladins and will compete in the 60-and-over Central division. Mathews and the Paladins will play a six-game round robin, Oct. 30 through Nov. 4.

"I'm a little anxious, but excited to get the chance to play," Mathews said. "Someday I hope we can take our own 60-and-over team from the TOTS."

But for now, Mathews will join the Paladins and enjoy his first ever MSBL World Series.
