Team White wins slugfest, 13-10

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

There were a lot of hits at Udall Park this morning.

The Team Blue batters pounded the ball with six doubles, a triple and a home run and scored 10 runs, but as it turned out, they ended up on the losing team as Team White won the game, 13-10.

The home run came from Reed Palmer, who hit his fourth home run of the month and 11th of the season, while teammate Ron Petersen went 3 for 4 and drove in five runs. Bob Daliege ended up 3 for 5 and knocked in two runs.

For Team White it was lefty Dennis Crowley leading the way with a 4 for 4 performance -- including a double. It didn't end there as Joe Opocensky doubled, tripled and knocked in four runs en route to a 3 for 4 day, while Ted Davis and Mike Taylor combined their efforts for six hits and seven RBI.

Definitely not a pitching duel. Lloyd Barzell held on to pick up the pitching victory, while Pete Maldonado was saddled with the loss.

The hot-hitting TOTS will be back in action on Wednesday. Game time: 9 AM.
