Arizona slams UTEP

Arizona Wildcats Football

Playing "under the lights" on a Friday night seems to agree with the Arizona Wildcats.

And playing the UTEP Miners at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas doesn't hurt either.

Arizona (2-1) rolled to its second win of the season with a 63-16 win over the Miners as the Wildcats rode the arm and the legs of quarterback Brandon Dawkins to a much-needed win.

The Wildcats led at the half 35-9, thanks to Dawkins, who completed 12 of 13 passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball eight times in the first half for 76 yards and two more scores.

The Wildcats poured it on the second half as Dawkins ended his night early in the fourth quarter with six touchdowns -- three through the air and three on the ground.

The Wildcats, with the win safely tucked away, head home to prepare for another Friday night encounter at Arizona Stadium on Sept. 22 against Pac-12 foe Utah (2-0).
