My grandson Jadon Price (#7) and his teammates David Bacerra (#9), Justin McGrath (#52) and Brayden Smith (#88) play for the Ironwood Ridge High School Nighthawks and will have their hands full Friday night in Oro Valley against visiting Queen Creek.
Queen Creek, the 5th-ranked team in the state of Arizona (overall ranking by Max Preps), is 5-0 and has the best record among the Phoenix area schools and the best record in the state for that matter.
Ironwood Ridge is 4-0 and ranked No. 22 in the state this week in the overall rankings by Max Prep. The Arizona Central high school football poll this week has Queen Creek ranked No. 2 in 5A and Ironwood Ridge ranked No. 5.
A real barn burner as Queen Creek edges my grandson Jadon and the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks 35-28 Friday night. Queen Creek score the game winner on a 15-yard screen pass with 26 seconds remaining in the game.
