The TOTS "Big 4" sizzle at the plate in August

Four players on the TOTS dominated the stat sheet for the month of August.

The Big Four: Tim Tolson, Reed Palmer, Ron Petersen and John Mathews.

Tolson batted in all 11 games and went 25 for 37 for a .676 batting average and a club's best 15 RBI,  while Mathews was second in hits with 19 to go along with his .633 average (19 for 30 in 10 games).

Palmer, who finished first in runs scored with 18, went 17 for 23 in eight games for a healthy .739 batting average. He also hit three home runs during the month and now has seven on the year.

Petersen played in nine games during the month and batted .654 with 17 hits in 26 at bats. He was also second on the club with 14 RBI.

Other top hitters included: Ted Davis (13 for 21 in eight games, a .619 average), Pete Peters (12 for 19 in six games, a .632 average), Dennis Crowley (13 for 25 in nine games, a .520 average), Joe Opocensky (10 for 18 in six games, a .556 average). DeLon "Doc" Thompson (10 for 17 in five games, a .650 average), John Misiaszek ( 11 for 18 in five games, a .611 average) and Pigpen Price (12 for 24 in eight games, a .500 average.

Petersen was the top pitcher on the TOTS in August with four wins and no losses.

Way to go, guys! And now it's on to September.
