Verlander, Tigers eliminate Oakland

Justin Verlander was just too much for the Oakland A's to handle.

Verlander allowed Oakland just two hits and Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer as Detroit wins Game 5 of the ALDS 3-0 to eliminate the A's from postseason play.

The Detroit right-hander was perfect through 5 1/3 innings and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning tonight in Oakland. The A's Yoenis Cespedes broke up the no-hitter with a two-out single. Verlander, who struck out 10 and walked one in his eight innings of work, allowed a single by Josh Reddick in the eighth and that was it.

So, it'll be the LA Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS, while Detroit will take on the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS.

I'm still predicting the Boston Red Sox to win it all.
