70-and-over Scorpions eliminated from MSBL World Series

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

70-and-over Arizona Scorpions

The Arizona Scorpions, with a roster including eight players from the Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) baseball club, were eliminated from the 2013 MSBL/MALB World Series after a 16-7 loss today to the Sacramento Solons.

The Scorpions, competing in the 70-and-over division, finished with a 2-4 record with wins during the week over Australia and the San Diego Mudcats, while losing to Dodgertown West, the San Diego Padres, Team America and to the Sacramento team in the playoffs.

The Sacramento Solons will play for the 70-and-over MSBL/MALB World Series title Sunday morning at Tempe Diablo Stadium against the South Dakota Rushmores.

As for the Scorpions today, not a lot to write home about. Chico Bigham started for the Scorpions and went five innings, while Arnie White hurled the final two innings. Pigpen Price knocked in three of the seven runs with a three-run double in the sixth inning.

The Solons had a good day to day as they roughed up the Scorpions and then drilled Dodgertown West  15-0 to qualify for the championship game.
