Cardinals three wins away from World Series title

The St. Louis Cardinals are three wins away from a World Series title. The Cardinals edge the Texas Rangers 3-2 tonight in St. Louis to take Game 1 of the 2011 World Series. Chris Carpenter gets the win, while Jason Motte earns the save. The game-winner: a sixth inning single down the right field line by pinch-hitter Allen Craig knocks in David Freese, who started the Cardinals' rally with an opposite-field double.
