Tucson Toros win playoff game, reach semifinals at MSBL World Series

The Tucson Toros beat the Puget Sound Mariners 14-4 in the first round of the playoffs today at the Papago Park Complex in Phoenix to advance to tomorrow's semifinals and go up against the Chicago Grays at Hohokam Park at 9:15 a.m.

If the Toros win the semifinal they will advance to the final at Fitch Park in Mesa at 1 p.m. and will take on the winner of tomorrow's semifinal, pitting the Colorado Stars against the San Diego Aztecs.

In today's playoff game, Tim Tolson and Joe Opocensky (both from the Tucson Old Timers) drew the collar and were a combined  0 for 7. Glenn Vann picked up the pitching victory for the Toros. Vann is 2-0 at the World Series as is his teammate, Arnold Mares.

The Toros have won six games at the senior World Series. The Toros are just two wins away from an MSBL title and the championship rings.
