Texans fall to Virgin Islands
Men's Senior Baseball League World Series
73-and-over division
San Antonio Texans
Nothing went right at Riverview Park in Mesa today as the 73-and-over San Antonio Texans were walloped by the Virgin Islands, 24-7, in second-round action at the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series.
The Virgin Islands have scored 44 runs in their two wins and find themselves at the top of the heap in the division as play resumes again on Wednesday. As for the Texans, they need a win badly and will meet another winless team, the Tri Valley Vets, at the Salt River Complex tomorrow at 9:30.
Something has got to give. One team will get their first win and one team will fall to 0-3 and their playoff hopes will vanish.
Pigpen Price from the Tucson Old Timers continues to nurse a hamstring injury and went 0 for 4 today. Price reached base once and scored a run. And that was about it. Price is 2 for 8 after two games.
"I have eight games in at the senior World Series this year," Price said. "I'll have to gut it out the rest of the way with still three games left in pool play."
