Dawson, Paladin lose 8-5 to Arkansas Diamonds

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

60-and-over Cactus division

Mike Dawson, from the 60-and over Tucson Old Timers, started and pitched four innings for the Paladin today inside the Hohokam Stadium in Mesa and absorbed the loss to the Arkansas Diamonds, 8-5 in the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series.

"We fought back in the later innings and scored four runs in the ninth, but it wasn't enough," Dawson said. Mike went 0 for 2 today at the plate and scored a run, while teammate John Mathews (also from the Tucson Old Timers) batted once, played right field and hit a long fly ball out to right field.

"Just not getting enough at bats," Mathews said, after the game. "We do have one more game tomorrow, but it looks like we won't make the playoffs. Should be back home playing for the TOTS on Friday."
