Wildcats roll past Long Beach State
The Arizona Wildcats improve to 3-0 on the season after rolling past Long Beach State tonight at McKale, 94-72. Brandon Ashley gets his first start of the season and pours in 20 points and adds 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats over the 49ers, while Kevin Parrom came off the bench and hit all five of his 3-pointers for 15 points. Solomon Hill added another 15 and Nick Johnson chipped in 12 to complete the double-figure scoring. Long Beach State hung in there, using 14 3-pointers to keep them within striking distance and they needed every one of them as Arizona led by as many as 22 in the first half and went to the locker room with a 50-37 lead at intermission. The Wildcats tacked on another 44 points in the second half as coach Sean Miller cleared the bench. Fourteen players received playing time. Way to go, 'Cats!
